Your education will be completed over a four week period.  Classes will be held five days per week with an average of eight hours of instruction and hands on experience per day.   In my experience, people will retain much more information and learn at a much quicker rate by actually shoeing the horse, forging the shoes, and working the tools rather than listening and watching someone else do the work.  At the Carolina School of Horseshoeing, LLC, you will get hands on experience and get under a horse starting on the first day of school!  In some schools you will spend a week or two listening to someone lecture while you take notes.  My approach will give you the ability to start your own business the day you return home from my classroom – and I will do it in four weeks!    In order to accomplish these goals, I limit the number of students to six for each four week course.

We will cover areas such as quarter cracks, founder, proper balance, club foot, under run heels, and shoeing horses to their conformation.

Students will learn:
  • Anatomy of hoof
  • Anatomy of legs
  • Angles of hoofs
  • Correction of problem feet
  • Forge work
    (clips, square toes, trailers)
  • Type of shoes
  • Angle of hoof
  • Business Set up
  • Problem Horses
  • Areas of Lameness
    (tendons, quarter cracks, founder, navicular
